 PRODUCTION

Today I discussed I wanted to film my commercial at the rehearsal space for our rock band, TAG.  I spoke with the guys about it and they said okay, as long as the crew does not disturb the instruments.  I agreed that we would make sure everything was not damaged.

I started thinking about how I could make that happen and how I would discuss making sure the instruments were stored safely with the owners of the rehearsal space and the members of the band.

I like the idea of filming there because band is a big part of my life.

I feel most comfortable and at home when I play drums in the band setting.

I will have to get help from some friends and others to film my video.  I am going to make a list of  equipment such as a tripod, lights, sound, and props.

I started pricing tripods that work with my i-phone so that I can videotape myself drumming, or to videotape myself in the other scenes for the movie.

I also started to think about what songs I want to use for the film to create the right mood, and to show the theme of the movie.

A voice over might work if I use the James Bond themes or I could play a beat in the background.  This might be more effective than talking on camera after I play drums, as it may be more engaging to the viewer and keep the viewer's attention.

I want to plan the lighting effects as well as what time of day I want to film to get the best effects.

I will need props.  I want to use an American flag to emphasize that although I was born in Russia, I feel 100% American.  This contrasts with James Bond because he is from England.  I want to use my drums obviously, and I want to use my dogs but they are characters, not props!

I started looking online, on my phone, on my computer, and around our house, for photos I will use in my video to explain who I am.

I looked for different ways to make the movie, like i-movie, google photo, vimeo, and windows video editor.  Although I feel most comfortable with the apple i-movie format, I am still trying to decide which is best.

Cap Cut also looks like a good format to use, and it is free, which is helpful for my budget, which is zero dollars.

I asked my family for help in gathering all my photos and videos that I will be using in the commercial.

I will pick a song that best suits the commercial setting and creates the right mood and atmosphere.

When I took into account the lighting and the positive feeling I want to convey, I decided that it would be better to shoot the film outside in a sunny atmosphere.

I want to use some shots from when I was in elementary school as well as get some film of myself in present day.

I will add some cool sound effects when they are needed, like clips of James Bond's famous sayings, such as 'shaken, not stirred.'

I want to add some cool light effects so I might have my tripod set up in my bedroom so I can film with my LED strip lights.

I will add some cool transitions to make the commercial not so choppy.
