Music Blog

Hi everyone! I chose music for my film. This is fun. In fact, it is one of my favorite parts! I love music. I started to search songs that were suspenseful. The first thing that came to mind was the music for the movie Jaws! I love the movie Jaws, mostly because of the music.  So scary! I watched it three times!  I decided that it would not be a good fit though. I kept on looking. I found some other music that I liked. I found an online source with a bunch of music that sounded mysterious.  I thought it would be cool to use some tracks from that source. I put the music into a file. I then dragged it to my movie. It said 'could not find.' So I had to go to an audio extractor website. I extracted it and it worked. I dragged it to the movie and it synced.  I played it and it was so cool. When I started playing the music, my family recognized it as Radiohead.  Now I have started listening to more of their music.  They are great!  The song I picked is called 'No Surprises.'

Editing Day 4

Hi everyone!  I’m back to tell you how my editing process went! So I had a couple of hiccups.  The first hiccup: the song I used was quiet at some points so I had to split the audio. This was weird because I had to figure out where the music was quiet. Then I had to replace the music with something else.  My other hiccup was the transitions. These were super hard to get just right. I had to figure out the timing of each shot. The easy part was choosing the transitions.  I also had to make sure the shots were not transitioning from one shot to the next shot too quickly. I had to set the duration to about 0.9 seconds. This does take time because I also had to sync it up with the music.  I tried some special effects but in the end those didn’t work out, which was disappointing. I wish there were more options for transitions. There may be options that I don't know about, but I ran out of time as I had to make my deadline.  I will look for more on my next video. The music and shots fin

Editing Day 3

Hi everyone! I am excited that the writing is done, the filming, and the song are done.  I am glad I was able to get my actors. I am happy it didn’t rain when we shot the film.  The locations I found were awesome. They worked out great. I have to say that my dog jumping in bed with me made the movie!  I had no idea she would do that, or that she would look out the window with me.  It made the movie for me. Now I have to get the music synchronized with each scene. I have to make sure that it doesn’t drown out the dialogue. It won’t be good if I went to all the trouble writing the script and you can’t hear it.  So it's time to look at all of the  film we shot. I will edit it so that the scenes go together smoothly. I want to make sure that the music creates an atmosphere. I want the story to be suspenseful and mysterious.  If I can get the music and the transitions from scene to scene to do that. I will start by playing around with the edit tools so I get a feel for them. I have to

Peer Review

Hi everyone! My friend Josh took a look at my movie called “No Clue.” I really appreciate his taking the time to watch it and giving me some constructive criticism. Here is what he said: “I loved this movie! The opening was very suspenseful. I thought that the photos used were really cool. The music in this movie was scary. Radiohead is one of my favorite bands, so I might be a little biased.  I never thought of the song as scary, but when you put it with the scenes, it is. Bond; to see your reaction and wonder what you were looking at was a very cool idea. I don’t know how you were able to get the police to borrow a cruiser. It made the scene very realistic. The lighting made it even more mysterious.  The transitions were seamless. I also thought the acting was top notch. I can tell you worked hard on this movie. I can tell you worked extremely hard on writing this script. I know you worked countless hours. Even the song and shots were lined up perfectly. The only thing I would say i

MY FILM

Hi everyone!  Today I started prep for my final task. I was excited and nervous at the same time. I started by re-reading my script out loud. I brainstormed ideas on how I was going to film the movie. I wondered how many people I would need as players my video. I also wondered what locations I needed. I started to get stressed due to many ideas on my mind so I started making a 'mind map.' I wrote down all the ideas I had to make this the least stressful since I am doing it by myself. This helped me figure out what I was going to do each day.  I quickly got excited because everything had fit into place once I had done this. I am going to film two scenes per day and edit the rest on off days.  If I had something to do on my editing days then I would just wait until the next filming day.  I texted my friends to see if they were available to help me film. Unfortunately all of them were busy so we decided to wait for the weekend to start filming.  I was bummed out that I couldn'

PLANNING, WORKING AND FILMING 'NO CLUE' CONTINUE!  Hi everyone!  I am back ready to continue my planning for my final task. I started texting my friend to see if he was available to film.  I definitely owe him for all the help he is giving me.  Now we were going to work on the part of my film where my character, the teenager, looks out the window and sees the body.  I don't want to show the body yet, just the suspenseful part where you see the shocked and scared look on my character's face.  The audience is going to ask themselves questions like, 'what is he looking at?' and 'why is he so scared?'  I think this will definitely draw the audience into what is going on! We both talked about what location we were thinking of and what time of day. We were thinking of mid day because there is some light still but it wont be too bright.  We also needed to figure out the location of where we would be filming this.   I would use my bedroom and my backyard as the

DIARY OF MY FILM, 'NO CLUE' PART ONE        Hi everyone! I am back again and today is filming day. I am so excited!        I have been waiting for this day.  Today is the day the words I put on the page will start to come to life!        I started looking at my script. The first scene is in the bedroom.  Time to create my scene and get everything ready.       I made sure that the lighting in the room was light enough to see everything. I also made sure my room wasn’t a mess. I called my friend to see if he could film me. He said yes, so I quickly got in the car and went to go pick him up. My friend and I got the tripod out and set up so it was at the right angle. My bed had a few books on it so I quickly removed those and got in my bed. A happy thing happened that I didn't even think of - my dog jumped in the bed with me!  My friend and I started laughing and I was going to move her out, but he said, you know what?  Leave Marley in the scene!      I filmed the first part of

Filming Day 2

DIARY OF A FILM   Hi everyone! Today I will begin my second day of filming.                                                                               I contacted the sheriff and he told me I could have the police cruiser from 11:30 to 12:00. Fortunately this was great because this will really make the film seem realistic.  Then I contacted my friend who had agreed to work with me. We figured out what scene to shoot in addition to the scenes with the police cruiser and the deputy sheriff.  My friend told me he needed a ride, so  I went to go pick up my friend. We went to the first scene. It was a patch of grass. We drew straws and I got to be the teenager and he got to be the dead body.  He did a good job of pretending to be dead. We shot the scene several times from all angles so that I could get the best shot to go in our film.   He did have a hard time keeping a dead face. He kept laughing and we kept having to do the scene over again because we knew he wasn’t dead. It was frustr
