Movie Research: Knives Out

RESEARCH FOR MY MYSTERY MOVIE: WHAT I LEARNED FROM WATCHING THE MOVIE KNIVES OUT

1. What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?
The conventions are a crime, murder, suspects and suspense. The movie, 'Knives Out,' is a mystery. The movie opens with a rich man being discovered dead and it is obvious that he was murdered. Detective Blanc, played by Daniel Craig,  is trying to find out who killed him and solve the mystery.

2. What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked?
I liked the suspense in the beginning. I liked this because each of the people had a motive and along with Detective Blanc, you had to figure out who killed them. Also everyone had opportunity to commit the murder,  since everyone was staying at his house.  There was also a lot of family drama as they are all related to each other.

3. What conventions of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you and you are thinking of not filming for your final task?
They were so many characters in this movie that were suspects. It made it hard to keep everyone straight. I would have less suspects in my movie.  I don't think I could get that many people in my movie in the amount of time we get for the assignment!
